Very fine! I guess I am not too surprised to see a mace as a prominent feature on your family crest. The yellow stars on the Coat of Arms are stylized maces, correct?
Thank you Jonathan! :D According to a version of the Fernão Lopes´ Chronicle of King John, the mace crest was granted by the King himself to Martim Gonçalves de Macedo, after he saved his life at Aljubarrota Battle - that was the weapon the King was brandishing when he was attacked by a Castillian knight who almost killed him. As for the stars, some heraldists think there are connections between the Macedo and the ancient lineage of the ancient Riba d`Ouro lineage - particularly the Moniz family, who had golden seven-point stars over azure on their coat of arms. I wouldn´t be surprised if they were in fact stylized maces! Cheers and thanks again for your nice comment and interest :D
