Anaia Vestrares was a noble Asturian warrior who accompannied Count Dom Henrique when he took possesion of the Portucalense County. There, he was one of Gonçalo Mendes da Maia´s (the "Lidador") comrades in arms, fighting the Moors alongside him.
He was entrusted by Dona Teresa - Count Henrique´s widow -
and her son, the infant D. Afonso Henriques, future King of Portugal ,
the castles of Góis and Bordeiro, between the years 1113 and 1117 AD. As the 1st Lord of Góis, Vestrares confirmed several royal documents until 1130.
